Join us in celebrating Flag Day!

Today is Flag Day, an annual observance begun in 1885 when 19-year-old Wisconsin schoolteacher Bernard J. Cigrand placed a 10-inch flag on his desk and asked his students to write essays about its significance.

For years, Cigrand continued to advocate that June 14 be known as “Flag Birthday” or “Flag Day,” according to the usflag.org website. The date is significant because on June 14, 1777, Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the U.S.

On May 30, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation calling for a nationwide observance of Flag Day. President Harry S Truman signed an Act of Congress in 1949 designating June 14 as National Flag Day.

J & J Staffing Resources opened its doors in 1972.   Flag day has always been a special holiday for J & J.  Every year, for the past 41 years, J & J Representatives have delivered flags to local businesses to honor and celebrate Flag Day.  Since 1972 J & J has given away more than 250,000 flags.
