Giving Thanks and Giving Back!

All of us at J & J take pride in supporting our local communities. This year, in the spirit of Thanksgiving season, we wanted to craft an event to show our employees how much we appreciate their daily efforts while also raising money for a good cause! Therefore, we invented the “Crazy for Charity” event which will be held until December 13th. These series of events will allow employees to dress down, associating the crazy accessory of the week into their wardrobe on the given Friday. In order to participate, employees will need to donate $1, all proceeds being given to CHOP to provide for the children they help each day.

You should always  leave for work just a little bit earlier in order to avoid traffic or weather delays, and you should always stay a bit later to take care of tasks you may have been assigned. This reflects well on you and will reassure employers they made a good hire.

Time management is a crucial skill for any employee to have and it’s doubly important when beginning a new job. One of the greatest causes of stress for new hires comes from being unable to balance out a workload and feeling like you’re forever stuck in crunch time. Tis’ the Season to Give

As the end of the year approaches, we know many people are trying to give their families a holiday that is one to be remembered. While it’s important that you show your loved ones how much you care during this time of year, we ask that you also consider those people in need. It’s easy to get carried away with shopping and decorating, but there are plenty of charities to which a person can give that’ll make sure someone else’s holiday is festive and bright.

For example, there’s the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Throughout the year, we at J & J Staffing give back to the community wherever we can as we regularly sponsor fundraisers for CHOP. This time of year, we always make donations to the hospital as well. If you would like to give to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia yourself, you can do so here. 

Of course, that’s not the only great charity taking donations this time of year. The following are just a few of the many wonderful causes going on right now:

• The Make-a-Wish Foundation has been around for over thirty years and helps bring true the hopes and dreams of children with life-threatening conditions.
• Almost synonymous with the holidays is Toys for Tots. As always, they are taking donations of toys for underprivileged children at several locations, in addition to monetary contributions.
• There are several local charities going on in your area that are happy to have help this time of year. If you need assistance in finding them, a local charity locator can be found here.

Regardless of what charity to which you decide to donate this holiday season, you’ll always be giving to someone in need of some holiday cheer. We hope that you can find time to make a contribution to the less fortunate.
